coming home

There is a saying we are all very familiar with” home is where the heart is,” most of us when the word home is mentioned think of our family members, the place where we grew up and in many cases where our roots still remain. There is no feeling like coming home when you’ve been away for a long time; sleeping in your own bed after a trip, anticipating seeing familiar faces and reliving shared memories that are never forgotten. Meeting new arrivals to the family and recognizing the growth of the next generation.

To be showered with love from those who have missed you too, as the years go bye and love ones leave the stage of life we value the memories of coming home as precious jewels to be treasured. Unfortunately, not every homecoming is filled with warm hugs; some come with stress and drama. There will always be the possibility of someone who will rain on your parade, it never fails to be one rotten apple in the bunch. Sometimes I try to imagine just what it would be like to return to the home prepared for us from the beginning of Earths history.

A perfect world created by the voice of a perfect Creator, He spoke and it appeared with no imperfections. To touch the hands that with gentleness and love formed every member of my being then breathed into my being with His own breath granting me life. To bathe in the light of His radiance and look into the eyes of love that sacrificed everything to show us the way back home. No matter how hard I try I can’t imagine the untainted beauty of a world without sin; no sorrow, pain, heartbreak or separation from those we love.

No tears, no death; just joy that flows like a river, an eternal celebration of love. A reunion for the ages, the greatest home coming when all the children of the Most High are home at last. Coming home may not always be easy; there could be road blocks, detours, and pitfalls however home is where love resides and healing begins; where you are always welcomed by the Father who waits patiently for your return. Whatever may delay your journey, coming home is worth pressing on until the arms of the Father wraps you in His embrace.

My revelation as I sit by the pool of grace
