changeing the guard

In our society a guard is paramount in the protection of something important; it could be a person, place, or thing. The guards sole purpose is to prevent anything that could cause hurt or damage to whatever they are protecting. In some systems a large group of men comprise the troop called guardsmen; they rotate the number of hours in a shift, this was called changing the guard. People came from all around the world to see the pageantry of this ceremony in London.

A Fense can be considered a guard, a locked door can be a guard, and something hidden in a safe can be a guard. Here is my question to you, have you ever give any thought to the Holy Spirit as a guard ? In the life of the Christ follower the Holy Spirit has a very important role, when Jesus ascended to His Father in Heaven He promised to send to His followers a helper John 15:26-27 says “I will send you a helper from the Father, the helper is the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father. when He comes He will tell about me, and you will tell people about me too because you have been with me from the beginning”.

Jesus has promised that we would not be left alone to fight the wickness of this world. The Holy Spirit wears many hats; He is a teacher, comforter, corrector, guide, and guard. When we submit to His guideance He speaks to our hearts, leads us in the path of righteousness and covers us in the blood of the Lamb. Before we can claim this promise there must be a changing of the guard, when we walk attached to the world we are guarded by the enslaver of darkness; we must be REDEEMED and totally committed to walking in the light and love of Christ.

When this change of heart comes the Holy Spirit will rule the heart and a new guard will take control. He will guard against selfish actions, satanic attacks, distractions, envy, delusions, hate, greed, and violence. He will keep us grounded in the world of the Lord, praying with gratitude, thoughtfulness for the suffering of others, and a desire to tell everyone we meet of the goodness of God and the sacrifice off His only begotten son. The soul of man is a precious in the sight of God, That is why the enemy works so hard to cause it’s destruction.

All of the universe knows how much God loves His creation and gave the greatest gift of heaven for mans redemption, have you accepted the lie that you are so unworthy that you would accept the bondage of this world or are you ready to come out of darkness, give your life to Christ and walk in love and light by changing the guard of your life.

waiting on the storm

Life is never really easy, it’s not a bed of roses; trouble seems to always be on the horizon. Sometimes we say why me? What did I do to deserve this? Then I thought to myself, why not me, what makes me exempt from trouble? I’m sure you can say the same if you really think about it. Storms can be mild with little destruction or they can be destructive and devastating; claiming lives and possessions we have spent years accumulating.

In the blink of an eye our sky can go from white pillowy clouds with sunshine radiating from behind them to the shadows of grey blotting out the sun; in a distant the sound of thunder announcing the coming storm. We know we must consider finding shelter, but; the rain hasn’t come yet. So what do we do while we are waiting on the storm? I’m reminded of a boat on the sea when they suddenly encountered a tumultuous storm; water filling the boat caused the fisher men to fear death, however; there was one who was sleeping peacefully as chaos surrounded them.

Cries for help from the others awoke Him from His peaceful slumber, He rose and said to the storm “peace be still” and the waters calmed, the beautiful clouds returned to the sky and the sun began to smile again. His name is Jesus, the Son of man; Jehovah Shalom, peace; El Shaddai, power almighty; Lamb of God, our perfect sacrifice; and Jehovah Nissi, the Lord is our banner. Our savior will never leave us without shelter in the time of storm, He will cover us under His wings protecting us until the storms have past.

He doesn’t cause the trials and storms that life brings, but; He will permit them that by them we grow in faith and dependence on Him. He sifts them through His fingers that we are able to bear them. Though the storm will rage and our lives will be interrupted by their onslaught, we can rest in the peace that Jesus will provide to those who seek refuge in Him. He assures us that we can trust He is faithful in providing for His own, He will never abandon them. When life brings you storms cry out to the one waiting, silently listening.
