in the prayer room

Her hands were worn, wrinkled from time; her face showed signs life had beaten her down. As she looked through the window at the falling snow, her mind entertained the thought; where do I go now? He had been her sole support, but; now he was gone, after 30 years she was all alone. Her heart heavy with the weight of grief, family and friends gave her no relief.

Who could she tell her heart was shattered; who would understand or would it even matter? Where could she find comfort, did anyone truly know what she was feeling? How lost she was or how alone she felt. But, life goes on; as days passed she began to put away reminders of a love now gone. His office was her starting point; for the first time she noticed a door she had never noticed before, why haven’t I seen this door before she wondered.

As she turned the knob she felt a familiar sensation that remined her of his touch, stunned she drew back her hand and stood in silence for a moment. Opening the door her eyes gazed upon a little table, a chair, and a Bible next to a small lamp. Entering a feeling she had never experienced consumed her. Peace seemed to permeant every corner of the little room. As she sat in the chair to view the open book; all the sadness consuming her life seemed to melt away.

Her eyes fell upon John 14:27 which read “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” The tears blurred the page as they fell from her eyes, for the first time she understood how her beloved could endure the pain racking his body, the smile he wore as if nothing was wrong, his kindness in the face of certain death and his compassion for his family always trying to life them up.

He was assured of Gods love for him and his heart was at peace with his circumstances because, he spent his time; in the prayer room. Where are you spending your time?

just tired

Have you ever lay in bed to tired to open your eyes, feeling lifeless and drained? Wondering why you feel this way; just tired, can’t put your finger on the cause, but; you don’t want to get out of bed, wash your face or even eat. You force yourself to do what came so easily days before. Eyes open, the sunlight beaming through the windows announce a beautiful day is waiting.

The morning ritual begins, personal needs addressed you anticipate what the day will hold for you. Sometimes it just takes a start to change the circumstances or create a new beginning. There are times in life when the daily chaos surrounding you just beats the life out of you; you have become tired of all the white noise consuming your energy. Everywhere you turn confusion, unrest, untruths, greed, poverty, homelessness, wars and rumors of wars flood the airways.

Those who govern live their best lives, while the masses they represent struggle to just live a life; to keep their heads above the water line hoping not to drown in the circumstances they are forced to endure. A change has to come, a new beginning necessary; but, what is the answer? How do we start? Yes, I said we; you are not alone, we all just tired of the madness we share. What affects some now will eventually affect us all.

Our message must be clear, to those who need to hear; no longer will we be pushed aside as if our voices don’t matter and we can be treated like cattle all held in one pasture being given what others think we deserve, yet; not what we need. We must return to our first love; our Creator, truly recognize we are all members of one family, the human family.

The affluent are not more important than their sisters and brothers who have less, even though their egos are bigger and may consider themselves better. We are all created equal in the likeness of our Creator; given the choice to walk in His footsteps or stray from the path of life that benefits all and not just some. It’s time to raise the flag of love not hate; a change in which all mankind can participate.

Our world is Just Tired of what we have done, from the flowers in the field to the rising and setting of the moon and the sun. It’s time to re-align ourselves with the Creators plan where each man respects his fellow man. His son died and rose again that everyman would have a second chance to live in a world where love reigns.

time clock

For those of us who have worked in industry we are very familiar with the reporting of our hours worked through a time clock. We begin our day by punching in to work and punching out to end the work day. The time clock records each employees hours worked, if they were late getting to work or didn’t work at all. When we are born into this world a heavenly time clock begins, each moment of our lives is recorded.

We are each assigned earthly caretakers, their responsibility is to teach us to understand and respect our surroundings; all that the Master Creator has made or our enjoyment, the importance of relationships and the power of love. Unfortunately, some caretakers are wounded spirits needing healing; they can only pass on what they have received. In theses cases the hurt they have experienced is perpetuated affecting all they come in contact with, creating dysfunction in the teaching cycle.

For some love can be seen even through the dark clouds of dysfunction, others search for the answer to explain the greatest question; why me? We all eventually come to an understanding of the world we exist in and the lives we are living. We recognize our existence is but a brief moment and like the flowers we fade away on the winds of time. Our memory is all that remains of our journey after we punch the time clock of life. The essence of the love we shared will linger in the hearts of those we touch along the way.

Love is the magical thread that connects us to our Creator, it is the beginning of every thing that was created; all was born from love, the Creators love. When we lost our way, love came to seek, find, and redeem us to itself. Love healed our hurts, brought clarity to our confusion and forgave our waywardness. The heavenly time keeper records every moment of our lives; the good, bad, and ugly. The times we asked for forgiveness and the times we forgave.

when we were selfish and selfless, but ; more important than these the times we loved unconditionally, so live your life so that when the time clock of life is punched; love will be written on the pages of your book.

are you listening

Tyranny is crying out to all who will hear, it is tired of being hidden behind a false smile and wants the many to understand it is the rich and few who are strong. It’s sister fear is on the ramp page, daring any who would speak to consider the consequences if they refuse to remain meek. To chose to stand against the powerful will require courage, sacrifice and maybe death.

Love calls out to all who will hear, don’t yield to tyranny and fear. Hate continues to float on the wind as those who seek power lie and deceive all who sleep and fail to believe. It’s time to wake up, only dreams come to those who sleep; hate is waiting to shear all who like sheep go quietly into the traps that are set. Power only has allegiance to itself, others are a means to an end and nothing else; easy to discard when no longer needed and powers purpose has succeeded.

Voices of the past from their graves cry out, don’t idly stand by, stand up and fight, don’t go quietly into the dark night. Our blood has watered this land that you would be free to stand. We gave our sweat, blood, and tears to a land that refused to hear our cry for justice, acknowledge our worth, or accept our existence as God’s creation. We are not alone power has caused pain everywhere it has been, causing tyranny and fear to all who stand in it’s way of gaining more power until it has total control and others become it’s foot stool.

Power has called out to all it’s friends; pride, hate, tyranny and fear. It has stated it’s purpose and goals, it desires total control over you and me; to dictate what our lives should be. We must wake up before it’s to late and stop power and hate at the gate, we must give it no entrance into our lives. Join love in this fight; as it cries out for help, ARE YOU LISTENING. Choose wisely for your choice has eternal consequences.

a day in the life

Time seems to be passing so fast we seldom think about how much or how little we accomplish in a 24 hour period; 1 day. If we stop to recount what we did with our day, sometimes it seems nothing we intended to do, got done. There never seems to be enough time in the day for all our busy lives require of us. We start the day running and end it trying to slow down; forgetting what happened in between.

For some of us the day is full and satisfying, every goal set for the day accomplished; while others fall short of their goals; the words what happened to the time lingers on their lips. Can you imagine how long the day must have seemed many years ago when there was no television, buses or cars, trains or planes, no phones or texting, and all communication was done verbally face to face. The work day began with the sunrise and ended when the sunset.

We are told of a man among men in whos life every moment of the day was spent in service to others. A day in the life of Jesus the Christ is a shining example of the priority we should set for our daily task. Jesus started His day in solitude and prayer before He began to work. He received strength for whatever He would encounter through prayer to His Father; each day a day of successful ministry. Each person who identifies as a follower of Jesus the Christ should start the day in prayer and praise to the Father who gives life.

Strength from the Father will be needed before we begin the work assigned to us to complete. Each day of life we are given should be a testimony of Gods love for His children; to serve those in need our goal. To greet the stranger with a smile, share a meal with those who hunger, open our doors to those in need of shelter and comfort those who grieve. When we chose the path of our Savior at the end of the day the peace that only God can give will rock us to sleep. We can say it was a good day in the life and I’m so grateful.

diamond in the rough

Daughter of the morning born of sunlight and laughter, plucked from the jewel box of the Most High; a gift to the world that surrounds you. Brilliantly shining on all that pass you the wisdom of the stars, the love of the Creator and the love of His son. Gentle hands reaching out to wipe the tears of man as you hide your own; confident you are not walking alone, trusting the stars will always lead you home.

The memories of the past give fuel to the future, the Father’s hands hold you carefully as He begins to polish you again; unveiling a greater brilliance. He watches over you as you let your light shine forth illuminating the pathway from the dark. Mother to generations yet unborn, sister to those who have none, seeker of truth and compassionate friend; smiling through the pain locked within.

Your rough edges have been smooth with the passage of time, leaving all that is destructive behind, no longer a diamond in the rough; you have been refined by heavenly fire. The sound of birds floating in the air, dancing in the spring rain, tops of trees sway as the summer breeze ruffle their leaves and through your eyes is reflected the beauty of the Creators handy work.

following the leader

In the beginning God created man, He said let us make him just like us as He gathered in His hands a little dust. Gently molding his shape; head, arms, chest,& waist; legs, feet, eyes, ears, noise and mouth. The man should not live alone He said so He gave him a mate to call his own. One became two, two became four; man was given dominion over all the Creator had made. The birds of the air, fish in the sea, the animals in the fields and forest; the flowers and trees.

Side by side the man and his bride cared for their Eden home, after the fall they had two sons; a happy family enjoying Gods love. Trusting that God would open a door to restore them to Eden once more. It was the mans responsibility to lead the way for the family to follow until that day. Each man has been mandated to lead his family, he is the head of his wife and children; provider, protector, and confidant. Loving unconditional and readily forgiving offences, teaching by example.

Jesus who is the head of the man gave the greatest example to follow; He embodied all the characteristics man should aspire to emulate. He walked humbly among the people in constant communication with His Father, displayed kindness to all, He willingly gave of Himself to those in need, and He corrected sin with love and compassion. He was not judgmental, nor did He condemn those who had lost their way. His shoulders were strong, yet; His voice was gentle. His hands were used to heal and not harm, everywhere He went Love, Mercy, and Grace followed.

The example of Jesus the Christ is what every man must study, surrender self to the Spirit of Jesus and walk in the footsteps of Jesus. When total surrender is given the characteristics of Jesus will cover his life like a warm blanket, he will enjoy peace in the midst of the storm, love will radiate from every fiber of his being and he will willingly follow the leader, Jesus the Christ wherever He leads. Happy Father’s day

the faithful servant

The sun was beaming down, sweat rolled down the side of her face, yet; she continued to hand the clothes on the lines that cress crossed the yard. Wash day was burdensome, but; it was her task and she did it as if it was the most important thing she would ever do. Her pride was seen in her work, she was a faithful servant and her employer knew her worth. 1Timothy 5:18 states “the laborer is worthy of his hire” this means service rendered should be compensated accordingly.

Most of us do not consider ourselves as servants unless we work in the domestic field, restaurant industry or in politics; however; Romans 6:16 says “do you not know that when you offer yourself to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death or to obedience, which leads to righteousness”. Each day we make the choice to give our allegiance to the dark ruler of this world or to the one who gave His all for our freedom from the bondage of this world. The decision is ours but so will be the consequences .

John 3:16 tell us ” for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life” Jesus came to a rebellious world to show the love of the Father for His wayward children. It was through the eyes of Jesus we saw the Fathers compassion, through His touch we felt the Fathers love, and through His death for our sins the Fathers heart was revealed. The Fathers desire to redeem mankind from the snare of satan was achieved by the sacrifice of His son. Jesus was a servant to all mankind and faithful to His father when He walked upon the earth.

The free gift of salvation was made available, the time of decision is here; we must answer the question Joshua asked so many years ago, choose you this day whom you will serve, will it be God or will it be man? What choice have you made? Your actions will display to the world whos faithful servant you are.

only time will tell

The ground was tilled, the seed planted and life begins. Growth comes with time, love, and proper care, the more love & care the stronger the results; in every stage of life there will be testing, the stronger the roots the stronger the tree will be. When the angry winds begin to blow it may bend, but; it will not be broken. So it is with the life of man, the seeds planted determine the path that will be walked. The nourishment on which we feed will determine what we give to others.

It is said the universe will give you back what you send out, to receive good you must be the purveyor of good. Unfortunately, many obstacles will be encountered along the path to maturity. Many lessons of life must be mastered, the most important; mastery of self. Our 1st major achievement was to go from crawling to walking on our own, our first clear words came next, then pre school; independence at last. The love we received at home we displayed outside of the home, we learn to be truthful, to share with others and obey our teachers.

Time seems to accelerate; suddenly you’re in high school, then college, next working to support yourself, falling in love and starting a family of your own. The foundation laid grows stronger as your tree of life adds branches. The passing of time requires reflection, as you review the pages of your life story your mind is filled by memories of kids, grand kids and great grand kids; of love, kindness, gratitude, and forgiveness you’ve given to others and has been granted to you.

You wonder if the lessons you learned have been successfully transmitted to those who will be the teachers of the generations yet to be. The lessons designed to keep the roots strong enough to with stand the storms to come. As you approach your golden years you prepare to pass the torch not willing to let the flames die. The question then becomes are the roots fortified? Will the tree continue to thrive? The answer comes “Only time will tell”. The beauty of a life long lived is the legacy left to those coming after, the greatest lesson to be learned is to love your Creator, your self, and others as the Creator has loved you.

blessings and curses

Every year in the month of May we honor our mothers, however; you could say we celebrate motherhood because there are aunts, family friends, and even siblings that step into the role of mother. In the bible we find examples of what motherhood looks like. Gen.1:28 introduces us to the Mother of Humanity, Eve; God blessed them and said “be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.” The man and woman were expected to populate the earth with people, God had provided everything they would need to thrive in their Eden home; the blessing. In Gen 3:16 something has changed and God pronounced this curse unto the woman He said ” I will greatly multiply they sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thy shall bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband and he shall rule over thee.

This caused me to think, it was not Gods original plan for childbirth to be a painful experience, but; one of great joy. In Numbers 26:59 we meet Jochebed, the mother of Moses, Moses was the youngest of 3 children born to her; unfortunately, her family were in bondage in Egypt and the Pharaoh had decreed all new born males born to the children of Israel be thrown into the Nile river; the curse. Jochebed loved her son so much she defied the decree and hid her son 3mos. When she could no longer hide him she prepared a basket, put him in it and placed it in the Nile; she committed her son to Gods keeping. Her son to be a man greatly used by God in the deliverance of His from bondage, the blessing. The next stop on our journey is at the home of Elizabeth and Zechariah, Luke 1:6 says” both she and her husband were righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.”

However, Elizabeth lived under a curse; she was barren they had no children and now they were both up in age. While in the administration of his office Zechariah was told by a heavenly messenger his wife would bear a child and his name was to be called John. Elizabeth was 88 years of age when she conceived John, she who had been barren all her child bearing years was now pregnant; what a blessing from God. We know the impact her son John the Baptizer has had on their world as well as ours today. The last stop on our journey is the most important of them all, she was a beautiful young girl between the age of maybe 14 to 16 when told she was favored in the eyes of the Most High, what a blessing; not only that but she would give birth to a child and he would be called the Son of God.

Can you imagine how she must have felt, she was a virgin engaged to be married; what would your response be to this message? Mary yielded her will to the will of God as told her by the heavenly messenger. Luke 2:34-35 tells of Simeon’s prophesy to Mary concerning her son, Mary carried the curse of knowing her son would be in danger and eventually killed; a dedicated mother she was present at the cross when He gave His life for the sins of the world. Mothers are important, they are servants; they serve their families understanding they are serving their Lord. They don’t seek rewards, they give all they have to the well being of those they love. They bind the family together individually and collectively through love and action. They season discipline with patience and mercy; they love unconditionally, the responsibility as the family guardian is never relinquished no matter how they may be treated.

The nurturing nature of a mother reminds us of God who gives us life, He nurtures us as we learn, develop, and grow in our knowledge of Him and living a Christian life. Isiah 49:15 states” God will never forget His children like a mother will never forget her nursing child”. The love of God the Father is reflected by everyone who steps into the role of motherhood, it requires a self sacrificing, forgiving, patient and understanding heart. A mother is counted a virtuous woman proverbs 31:30 says “favor is deceitful and beauty is vain, but; a woman that fearth the Lord, she shall be praised. Proverbs 31:26 states “she opens her mouth with wisdom and in her tongue is the law of kindness; 28: her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also and he praiseth her.
